Overview of the H1 results for the FY2023

Consolidated P/L and P/L by business segment are shown in the tables.
Net sales was ¥67.01 billion (up 58.7% YoY), operating profit ¥5.37 billion (up 52.0%), ordinary profit ¥5.9 billion (up 57.4%), and quarterly profit attributable to owners of parent ¥4.12 billion (up 62.6%).
Profits at each stage increased by more than 50% YoY.
Share of profit of entities accounted for using equity method was recorded due to Daikoku Denki Co., Ltd. becoming an equity-method affiliate from this Q2.
Results by business segment were net sales ¥7.4 billion (up 22.5% YoY) and operating profit ¥1.98 billion (up 22.1% YoY) for the content and digital business, and net sales ¥59.02 billion (up 67.0% YoY) and operating profit ¥4.5 billion (up 133.1% YoY) for PS business.

H1 of FY2023 [Content and digital business segment] initiatives are as shown in the chart.
Sales in China doubled YoY, and while sales of trading cards continue to drive earnings, sales of block toys are also trending favorably.
Since last year, we have been working to acquire new licenses, and it is steadily expanding its non-toy categories such as apparel and stationery.
Domestically, events and merchandising are also performing well, exceeding the previous year.
The number of visitors to the “Ultra Hero’s EXPO Summer Festival” held in the summer also increased compared to the previous time, and product sales at the venue were strong.
In Seibuen Amusement Park, the attraction “Ultraman the Ride” opened, and the limited merchandise, etc. became popular.
Merchandise related to the movie GRIDMAN UNIVERSE also performed well.

[Video Development]
The movie ULTRAMAN: RISING, which is scheduled to be distributed on Netflix, was released at “Geeked Week,” a distribution event for Netflix, and its full-fledged development toward next year began.
Based in Los Angeles, our subsidiary company is working with partner companies to prepare for merchandise expansion in line with the distribution.

[Theme park development]
The fourth theme park opened in China in October.
In December, we plan to open an interactive VR attraction at Tokyo Dome City called “ULTRASEVEN THE ATTRACTION.”

[Merchandising development]
Tsuburaya Productions launched a new business for Ultraman card games in October, and we announced that it will roll out ULTRAMAN CARD GAME globally next year.
Starting with AFA (Anime Festival Asia) to be held in Singapore on November 24-25 of this year, we will have a place for the unveiling in each country. We are also steadily preparing for various developments such as app gaming and EC.

H1 of FY2023 [PS business segment] initiatives are as shown in the chart.
In Q2, Net sales was ¥59.02 billion (up 67.0% YoY) and operating profit was ¥4.5 billion (up 133.1% YoY).
Sales also trended steadily, with 85,000 pachinko machines, 40,000 pachislot machines, and 126,000 total machines (up 41,000 machines YoY).


PS business segment information

The table shows the status of the PS business segment.
In the H1 of the year, sales exceeded the initial plan.
In particular, NEON GENESIS EVANGELION -Roar for tomorrow- has been in its second year since its sale. And the title has contributed as a main title that is indispensable for pachinko hall, as we responded to several additional orders up to the present time.
For titles that are scheduled to be delivered Q3, including the successor title, we have received more orders than expected and have already sold them out.
Other titles on sale and Q4 sales preparations are progressing as planned.
